Dinner Tango Show

Located in the Balvanera neighborhood, “Complejo Tango” presents a show with dancers, singers and live orchestra, which narrates the history of the tango in five scenes:

1880/1900/1910: Tango was born, crystallization of the dance, time in which the “compadrito” defended his honor with the knife, and men rehearsed and danced among them.

1920/1930: Golden age. Tango arrives to the centre of Buenos Aires. In those years, the great booming of the Argentine tango in Paris took place.

1940: The golden decade of the tango due to its prolific artistic creation and the appearance of great authors.

1960: High light of the feminine figure in the 60´s, filled with sensuality, elegance and romanticism.

1980/2005: The powerful energy of the contemporary tango that is projected to the world by composers as Piazzolla.

The “Carlos Gardel Corner” (esquina Carlos Gardel) is situated in the heart of the Abasto neighborhood, right on the passage that carries his name and where it is erected the only statue of the city placed to remember him.

The show lasts 90 minutes and presents 22 people, among musicians, dancers and singers who display their art in a scenery that recreates an imaginary theatre / cabaret of the thirties with the luxury, enhancement, sophistication and glamour of a time that marked the entry and reign of the tango in the most select circles of the society.
