Self-drive tours are considered the best way for independent travelers to visit a country or a region. The route is planned in advanced and nights are pre-arranged in selected hotels. Travelers are given a suggested route to follow with the rented car and they are free to make as many stops as they desire.
We have designed a special self drive option in Argentina for honeymooners with a combination of stays in Estancias (ranches), boutique hotels and charming B&B/Inns. Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, you will be transferred to your comfortable hotel. Breakfast. Enjoy our morning private half day City Tour that will provide you a general view of the city and its attractions. During about three hours you will be able to visit Retiro, Palermo, 9th of July Avenue (the Colon Opera House and the Obelisk), Downtown (the Congress, the Mayo Square, Mayo Avenue, Government House), Puerto Madero and San Telmo with stops in Recoleta (cemetery and Francia Square) and La Boca (Caminito). In the evening, we invite you to have dB&B/Inner in our selected tango house where you will be offered a spectacular performance of the local dancing: Tango. |

At appropriate time, you will be taken to the domestic airport to take your flight to Bariloche. Upon arrival at the airport you will pick up your car at the company’s counter.
Recommendable visits to enjoy during your first day:
- Small Circuit. Length: 3-4h (60 km ~ 37 miles). Highlights: San Carlos de Bariloche surroundings, Bustillo Avenue, Playa Bonita, Campanario Hill, San Pedro Peninsula, Llao Llao area, Puerto Pañuelo, Villa Tacul, Escondido Lake, López Bay, Moreno Lake and El Trébol Lake.
- Great Circuit. Length: 7-8h (284 km ~ 176 miles). Highlights: Rincon Chico, Rincon Grande, Limay River, the Amphitheatre, Enchanted Valley, Confluencia, Traful Lake, Villa Traful, Lake Espejo, Lake Correntoso, Puerto Manzano, Villa La Angostura, among others.

Buenos Aires / San Miguel de Tucuman(1411 Ft.)
Breakfast. At appropriate time, you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to San Miguel de Tucuman. Upon arrival in Tucuman airport you will pick up your car at the airport counter. The capital city of the province offers several visits to enjoy during your first day:
- Downtown Circuit. Length: 2h. Highlights: Independence Square, Cathedral, Independence House, San Francisco Convent & Church, Government House.
- Northern Circuit. Length: 1h. Highlights: the most elegant district, the Casino.
- 9th of July Park. Length 1h. Highlights: beautiful XVIII century-style Park designed by French Carlos Thays, Sugar Industry Museum.
- Squares Circuit. Length: 2h. Highlights: interesting squares of the city.

San Miguel de Tucuman / Tafi del Valle (6562 Ft.)
Enjoy the morning in the Estancia.
You will leave Villa Nogues following Route 307 to the NW to travel the most important circuit of the province to Tafi del Valle, 123 km (77 miles) from Tucuman. On the way you will cross the Tucuman Jungle and after some miles of Cornice Road you will have the chance to visit the ruins of pre-Columbian culture Tafi.
Tonight you will spend the night at Estancia Las Carrera, 8 miles from Tafi del Valle. |

Tafi del Valle / Cafayate (5905 Ft.)
You will leave Tafi del Valle following Route 307 to the NW crossing Abra del Infiernillo to Amaicha del Valle enjoying breathtaking views of the valleys. Amaicha is a small 9-block Indian village where every year takes place the Pachamama (Mother Earth) Festival which makes it unique.
After 14 km (9 miles) along Route 357 you will reach the mythical Route 40 which crosses the entire country from the Bolivian border to Santa Cruz in Patagonia. You will get to Quilmes Ruins after 8 km (5 miles), one of the most important pre-Hispanic settlements in Argentina that dates back to year 800.
Keeping your track along Route 40, after almost 40 km (25 miles) you will get to Cafayate. Depending on the arrival time, you will have time left to enjoy a sightseen.

Cafayate (5905 Ft.)
Suggested visit:
- Las Conchas Gorge. Total travel: 84 km (52 miles). You will head along Route 68 crossing Quebrada del Río Las Conchas or Quebrada de Cafayate, with spectacular and natural formations like the devil’s gorge, the amphitheater (famous for its particular acoustics), the castles or the monk.

Cafayate / Cachi (7480 Ft.)
You will leave Cafayate along Route 40 to the N following River Calchaqui to the charming town of Cachi crossing mountain landscapes with important archaeological sites and visiting on the way picturesque villages that made their lives from agriculture where you will be able to purchase home made wines or jams among other products. Animana, San Carlos, Angastaco, Molinos and Seclantas are some of the attractive tows.
Cachi is located 180 km (112 miles) from Cafayate and is considered a gem due to its environment and architecture. You can visit San Jose Church and the Archaeological Museum.

Cachi / Salta (3894 Ft.)
Today you will leave the typical village of Cachi, crossing the Lerma Valley and National Park Los Cardones, on your way to Salta, in a total circuit of 160 km (100 miles) visiting Cerrillos, Pulares, Escoipe Gorge, Cuesta del Obispo at 3348m above sea level and Recta de Tin Tin.

The capital city of the province offers several visits to enjoy:
- Downtown Circuit. Length: 3h. Highlights: Uruburu House Museum, San Francisco Convent & Church, San Bernardo Convent & Church, Old Town Hall, 9th of July Square, Cathedral.
- San Bernardo Circuit. Length: 3h. Highlights: visit of important monuments ending at San Bernardo Hill where you will have the chance to get on the Salta Cable Car and enjoy panoramic views.
- San Lorenzo. Total travel: 36 km (22 miles). Highlights: important summer village in the area.

Salta / Purmamarca (7185 Ft.)
Today you will start the commonly called Road to the Clouds, which follows the track of the famous Train to the Clouds to San Antonio de los Cobres, by Route 51. Crossing through Campo Quijano and the amazing Quebrada del Toro you will reach Santa Rosa del Tastil, a pre Inca City , where you can visit the XVIII century ruins. Before continuing by Route 40 to Purmamarca you will be able to stop at Salinas Grandes (Big Salts Flats) only inhabited by autochthon Fauna.
The total circuit length is 13h and you will end at Purmamarca, at the foot of the Seven Colors Hill, where you will spend the night at Hotel La Comarca.
You can enjoy some massages and the Sauna at the Hotel’s Spa. |

Humahuaca Gorge and back to Salta (3894 Ft.)
Today you will drive along the Humahuaca Gorge, declared World Human Heritage by UNESCO. You will first reach Tilcara (7217 Ft.) with its Pucará (old Indian fortress), the Archaeological Museum, and the old church of Uquia. In Humahuaca, you will find the handicraft market and the monument to Belgrano. You will then drive back to Salta, we suggest the following route:
- Route to San Salvador de Jujuy. Total travel: 83 km (51 miles). Highlights: Tumbaya, Termas de Reyes (Hot Springs complex where you can relax and have lunch) and the capital city of Jujuy. From Jujuy there are 120 km (75 miles) to Salta. Once in Salta you can leave to Cabra Corral Dam to enjoy your last day.

Argentine Side of Iguazu Falls
After breakfast, you will leave in a full day excursion to the Argentine side of the Iguazu Falls. You will be guided around the several paths inside the National Park to have incredible view of the more than 200 falls. At noon, you will have free time for lunch and the chance to take the optional Great Adventure navigation which takes you for a ride around the falls, the boat even stays for a while underneath a fall! In the afternoon, you will board the train that leads you to the greatest fall in the park: the Devil’s Throat. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. |
