BARILOCHE & THE LAKE DISTRICT

Tour Bariloche in Patagonia - 4 days

Beautiful Bariloche is located in the heart of Argentina’s Lake District and is the ideal home-base for exploring the nearby lakes, hiking trails and rich culture of Patagonia. Take in the stunning mountain views as you tour Bariloche’s “Circuito Chico”, walk through the Llao Llao Forest and then cruise Lake Nahuel Huapi and visit the traditional island communities before rewarding your efforts with some of the region’s locally brewed beer or hand-crafted chocolate.

Day 1- Patagonia Tours, visit Bariloche

Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and take a private transfer to your hotel. Bariloche sits on the southern coast of Nahuel Huapi, a glacier-water lake with enthralling islands and beaches.

Hills and mountains framing the area allow visitors to enjoy all sorts of hiking trails and winter sports (Cerro Catedral is home to the biggest ski slopes in South America), as well as some mesmerizing views of the natural wonders of Patagonia. This region has it all — horseback riding through the Patagonian steppe, navigations through pristine blue-green waters, and the most mouthwatering chocolate in the country!

Day 2 – Bariloche Tours: Small Circuit

Today you’ll visit the famous Cerro Otto, a mountain located on the southern shore of Nahuel Huapi Lake. Our local operator will arrange your tickets and tell you where to take the shuttle up to the base of Cerro Otto Mountain. It’s a really easy journey since they depart directly from downtown! Once at the base, take a gondola to reach the summit, where you’ll enjoy the multiple viewpoints — admire Lake Nahuel Huapi and the entire bird’s eye view of Bariloche!

The main attraction of Cerro Otto is the °360 spinning restaurant. Enjoy a hearty meal or a delicious hot chocolate while the restaurant makes a slow turn; you’ll get the best views of Tronador Hill, Victoria Island and Lake Moreno (as well as many other attractions!). It takes between 20 and 40 minutes to make a complete turn!

Enjoy the art gallery next to the restaurant, where you can see an identical reproduction of the famous sculpture ‘David’ by the Italian artist Buonarroti. Outdoor activities include various ski slopes, multiple hiking trails, a hanging bridge and a visit to “The Mirrors Cottage”!

When you get back down from Cerro Otto’s peak during the afternoon, we’ll pick you up from your hotel to take you on your second excursion of the day: ‘Small Circuit’. This is one of the most classic trails in Bariloche. We’ll drive you along the famous Bustillos Avenue, passing by Lake Nahuel Huapi; enjoy beautiful views of the forest growing on the shore, secluded islands, and pristine beaches during this 10-mile trip.

Upon arrival to the base of Cerro Campanario, take a chairlift to reach the summit, where you’ll discover the most famous viewpoint of Bariloche. Take your time to admire the beautiful views of Colonia Suiza Woods, Cerro Lopez and other amazing places, all while accompanied by a local guide.

Continue your journey towards Llao Llao Park, home to a world-famous luxury hotel, the wooden San Eduardo Chapel, and Puerto Pañuelo, the traditional port of Bariloche, where boats depart to explore Nahuel Huapi National Park. At the end of the day, we’ll drive you back to the city of Bariloche.

Say Hueque Tips

Strung out along the shoreline of Lago Nahuel Huapi, in the middle of the national park of the same name, Bariloche (formally San Carlos de Bariloche) has one of the most gorgeous settings imaginable. This, combined with a wealth of summer and winter activities in the surrounding countryside, as well the production of Argentina’s best chocolate, has helped it become the Lake District’s principal destination.” (Lonely Planet). Today we’ll pick you up from your hotel and take you to Puerto Pañuelo, where you’ll embark on the lake and head to Peninsula Quetri Hue to visit the amazing Arrayán Woods, a natural reserve home to 300-year-old Arrayan trees (“quetrihue” in native language). Wander through ancient forests of cinnamon-colored bark, learn about the unique wildlife and history of the reserve, and discover the house of one of Disney’s most famous characters!

Continue your trip towards Victoria Island and visit Toro beach, where you’ll walk across its volcanic sand and visit amazing paintings in the surrounding caves. At the end of the day we’ll take you back to Bariloche to enjoy your last evening in the city.

We had a lovely holiday! A big thank you to Say Hueque and all our wonderful guides!

Hi Marcela,

I'll put a review on trip advisor at the weekend to say what a lovely holiday we had and a big thank you to Say Hueque and all our wonderful guides, yourself included.

We first learned about Say Hueque by Google search. We liked the tour options, flexibility to change areas visited and hotel type, good description of day trips/ excursions available, easy to use web site and prompt response to any queries.

For me Iguazu was the highlight of travelling with you, for my husband El Calafate plus all our wonderful guides.

Our favorite hotel was our hotel in Bariloche - Amazing. The most beautiful room at the top of the hotel with stunning views. Lovely staff and a really cosy bar area. The free arrival drink was lovely. We also loved Clasico in Buenos Aires. Lovely bedroom and breakfast room and great breakfast. Probably Patagonia Rebelde. We loved to old style. Really comfortable and cosy. Lovely staff. Least favourite was Jasy in Iguazo- Poor quality.

My favorite excursion was the Argentinian side of Iguazu falls. For my husband Perito Moreno glacier. Both for the same reason that they were stunningly breathtaking. Wished we had done the ice trekking. Our regret was we didn't book this and didn't realize what it was/ how amazing it would be, until we arrived. We also really enjoyed our boat trip and hike in bariloche - the boat owner was fantastic. A lovely trip.

All our guides were great. Our first guide in Buenos Aires (Marcela) was lovely, really relaxed and it was more like having a friend with you than a guide but with all the knowledge. Margarita in Iguazu was amazing. Again so lovely and so friendly and really cared we had a great time. Our guide on the group tour for Perito was also fantastic - very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. We could not fault any of our guides.

Only place we had an issue with drivers was Bariloche so the local tour company could improve their drivers (first trip he was 30 minutes late and we were his first pick up) and the second day the other driver was 20 minutes late for the airport pick up. Perhaps a rough guide of excursion prices under each excursion description would be useful to help to decide which to do on free days.

Thanks again for a wonderful holiday
Helen and Ben

It was a fantastic holiday - thank you and all the team for organising everything so well and efficiently!

Hola Marcela

Thank you for your email.

It was lovely meeting you and we wish to thank you and all the team for organising everything so well and efficiently. Please find following answers to your questions

We found Say Hueque on the internet. We have always liked using travel agents in the country we are visiting because of their knowledge of their own country and all funds being spent go direct to the country we are visiting. Your prompt responses to our emails and suggestions were a major reason for our using your company.

All drivers and guides were punctual and the cars were of very good quality. The English of the guides was excellent, especially Victor, and his driver Eduardo, in Bariloche. Our guides and driver in Buenos Aires and Uruguay were also very good.

It was a fantastic holiday and it was made much easier with Say Hueque’s organisation.

Many thanks.

Kind regards

Catriona & Steve

Dear Marsella,

Thank you for your help and support during our visit in Argentina.

We found Say Hueque through the internet and we received the mostly quick response and cooperation. Your responsiveness and support were our highlights travelling with you.

Our favorite hotel was in Bariloche and also the trip from Bariloche to Chile a full day traveling boats and bus in a magnificent scenery. The guide in Puerto Varas was very good.

My suggestion to improve: I think there should be a local phone to call daily phone that will be provided by the company and returned at the end of the trip.

Very Best Regards
Moshe
