Immerse yourself in the jungles of Puerto Maldonado before heading to Hacienda Concepcion, where you will canoe down the Madre de Dios River to Inkaterra. There, you will explore the winding rainforest trails and spend the night stargazing while learning about the southern constellations. Visit a native farm to sample local ingredients, discover natural remedies in the botanical garden, and enjoy catch and release fishing duing the cocha water excursion. Spend your final day in the butterfly house, surrounded by its colorful inhabitants before returning to Puerto Maldonado.

Day 1- The Adventure to Puerto Maldonado begins.

Welcome to Puerto Maldonado!

Explore the jungle of Puerto Maldonado and meet its endless wildlife, either through its trails or cruising along the Madre de Dios River. Discover the rich biodiversity of the Tambopata National Reserve and observe the Peruvian Amazon from the treetops through an amazing network of suspension bridges.

Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transfer to Hacienda Concepcion. You will navigate by an outboard motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River to Inkaterra, and arrive at Hacienda Concepcion in approximately 25 minutes.

Enjoy lunch made with organic ingredients and local flavors. Afterwards, take a walk through Concepcion Trails where you will discover and learn the difference between primary and secondary rainforest, its components, uses, transformations by humans, and its relevance for the world. At dusk navigate by outboard motorized canoe during the Twilight river excursion. By sailing on the Madre de Dios River, you will learn about its ecosystem, Amazonian creeks, nocturnal animals’ behavior, and the southern constellations. In the evening enjoy a lovely dinner in the Casa Grande’s dining room.

Day 2- Explore the Tambopata National Reserve

Trek through terra firma, exploring the Tambopata National Reserve and Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is called the biodiversity capital of Peru, while learning about the Reserve’s conservation efforts and the lake’s formation. Navigate by dugout canoe across this mirror-like oxbow lake, which is home to the endangered giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), blue and yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus), black caiman (Melanosuchus niger), and one of the world’s biggest freshwater scaled fish, the paiche (Arapaima gigas).

In the afternoon, journey back to the lodge for lunch, and later, the Inkaterra canopy walkway & anaconda walk await you. Take a 20-minute ride by outboard motorized canoe to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway Interpretation Center where you will learn about its construction and the conservation projects of ITA-Inkaterra Asociación (NGO). Ascend one of the two 98-foot towers (30 m.) and cross the 7 hanging bridges that connect the treetops at 91 ft. high (28 m.). Enjoy the breathtaking vistas and get the chance to watch white-throated toucans (Ramphastos tucanus), woodpeckers, trogons, squirrel monkeys (Saimiri boliviensis) and the three-toed sloth (Choleopus hoffmani). After descending keep on feeling the incredible primary rainforest energy going along the 200-meter wooden bridge over the swamps (aguajales). You will learn about the fauna and flora of this flooded ecosystem.

In the evening, prepare for an adventure with the rainforest by night excursion, where you will explore the Amazon rainforest and its nocturnal inhabitants who display intriguing behavior patterns and boast enhanced senses as adaptation mechanisms. Listen to nocturnal nature sounds, and immerse yourself in this hidden world. Afterwards, return to the lodge and enjoy a nice dinner.

Thanks so much for your service!

My friend who traveled with Say Hueque in Argentina a few years ago recommended me. Your timely communications, before trip contact and during the trip contact make me a peace of mind.
E! MAPI is the best hotel with class and everything. My favorite excursions were to the Sacred Valley and Amazon, as we had the best tour guides, the one in Sacred Valley (I forgot his name) as well as Victor, the guide at Amazon, were great!
