HIGHLIGHTS OF NORTH ARGENTINA – 15 Days

Visit Salta, Iguazu Falls, Buenos Aires & Ibera Wetlands

Argentina’s newest (and secret) hotspot, the north, and see why it is capturing the hearts and imaginations of all those who visit. Argentina’s northern region is home to traditional estancias, wildlife of the remote Ibera Wetlands and the incredible Iguazu Falls. In addition, colonial Salta’s spectacular mountain and desert landscapes will be sure to impress.

Day 1 – Travel to Argentina, first stop Buenos Aires

Welcome to Argentina!
Capital of Argentina and described as the Paris of South America, Buenos Aires proudly embraces this title, as well as shows off plenty of its own culture! Explore the traditional European architecture, the cobbled streets lined with rustic outdoor cafes, the local antique and artisanal markets that offer plenty of bargain shopping, and the mouthwatering aroma of prized Argentine beef sizzling on an open “parrrilla” (barbeque) in the air. Buenos Aires is home to some excellent local designers and you will certainly find the perfect leather jacket, long leather boots and handbags for all occasions. Though above all, Buenos Aires is known as the home of the tango. Be sure to enjoy a traditional dinner-tango show and explore the colorful San Telmo and Recoleta neighborhoods.

Upon arrival in Buenos Aires you will be met at the airport and have a transfer in private to your hotel.

You will have the rest of the day to enjoy this vibrant city, leaving you the remainder of the day to explore the historic neighborhoods and enjoy the cafe culture of Buenos Aires.

Upon arrival in Posadas you will be taken (private service) to your selected hotel.

The Esteros are the second-largest wetlands in world after Pantanal in Brazil. Iberá is also one of the most important fresh water reservoirs in the continent.

Day 3 – Ibera Wetlands Tours : wildlife & nature

After breakfast we will sail towards the Corrientes Stream where an unforgettable fauna watching is expecting us amongst the very well-known floating islands of the Iberá lagoon.
The “embalsados” are floating islands made up of aquatic roots and sediments. Their thickness may vary from few centimetres up to two metres allowing the 150 kg marsh deer to walk easily on them. These islands are able to move from place to place due to the area´s strong winds making the geography of the lagoon to change constantly, which has given rise to many of its varied legends.
In many parts of this tour, engines are silenced and with the help of the pole the boat is drifted along the smaller streams and aquatic vegetation.
Here the greatest concentration of fauna is to be found: capybaras, marsh deer, neo-tropical river otters, the two types of caimans, as well as a large variety (350 species) of aquatic birds.

We had the most wonderful 20th wedding anniversary celebration

Hi, Patricio and Patty

Firstly, I’m so sorry that it has taken me so long to write to you! We had a wonderful trip in Argentina and would love to come back again some day. As promised, here is some general feedback on the various aspects of our trip in February…...

Feedback for Say Hueque: Patricio, we really appreciated the quick responses to our queries when we were in the early stages of booking the holiday. We had no idea where to go or what to see, so your suggestions were really helpful. We also appreciated that you took notice of the types on hotels we were interested in staying in and also the activities that we were keen on. You were happy to make changes and to listen to our suggestions and you also worked to keep it within a reasonable budget. All in all, we were really delighted with the service that we received from you. Thanks!

Our favourite part of the trip was the week we spent in the North West driving ourselves. We would definitely like to do that again and spend more time in some of the villages and towns.

Feedback and thoughts on the various activities and places we stayed and visited: I have written reviews on TripAdvisor for most of them, you can find me under the username “fractal” if you’d like to read them

We liked all the hotels we stayed in. Each one was just right for its location and suited us perfectly. If we had to pick, probably our two favourites were Hacienda de Molinos in Molinos and Finca Adalgisa in Chacras de Coria.
Hacienda de Molinos had great charm and the food was excellent. We loved our room and would have liked to have spent a couple of days there. We had the best room at Finca Adalgisa….number 17, which has a very big terrace. The service was excellent and the breakfasts really good. We loved the summer house and the fact that we could go every evening for a glass of Malbec and a snack. The BoBo Hotel was also great….although I preferred our room when we first arrived, the room they gave us on our one night on our way out of Argentina at the end of the stay was much smaller and also very noisy. We liked it’s location in the city; it was great to walk around Palermo. The Vinas de Cafayate had great views and the room was nice. The food in their restaurant was also quite good. La Aldea de la Selva in Iguazu had the best breakfasts on our trip. The lodge was interesting and the room big, although it didn’t have much character. The staff were helpful with making restaurant suggestions and reservations. The Design Suites Hotel in Salta was great….our room on our first couple of nights was nicer than the room we had when we returned….the first room had a better view. The breakfasts were a little boring.
La Comarca in Purmamarca was really nice. It had great views of the mountains and was spacious.
Esplendor Calafate was also very good. Our room was really big and had a great view. The decor was interesting and the bathroom was lovely.

One thing we did notice…..Argentina is a wine country and yet only one or two of the hotels had wine glasses in the rooms….we had to ask!!

The agents on the ground were mostly very good.

SayHueque ... the best a man can get!

North Argentina. This trip exceeded our expectations by far...and they were high, believe me. Some comments on SayHueque in general: A very personal approach "from start to finish", from the very first inquiry by mail until saying goodbye at the airport. No effort is being spared to make it your best holiday ever. The quality of information provided regarding hotels, restaurants, tours, places of interest,… Extremely good value for money! About the trip itself: one word: marvellous ... in any way! And if you're visiting North Argentina,do stay at Rincon del Socorro, it's a unique gem in the middle of nowhere.Special thanks to Elisa and Mariano, thanks to you guys we had the time of our life!
