IGUAZU FALLS Self-Guided

Tour Iguazú Falls in Iguazu National Park - 3 days

Tour Iguazú falls on your own. Wander at your own pace in the park, which hosts some of the most impressive waterfalls in the world! You will have the chance to have an up-close and personal experience with the impressive collection of 250 waterfalls. Venture into the jungle and get to know the coatis (native raccoons) and the awe-inspiring “Devil’s throat”. Discover walking trails and the eco-train’s perfect harmony with nature.

Day 1 – Welcome to Iguazú!

The small border town of Puerto Iguazú is the gateway to visit the impressive Iguazú Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage site, making it a must-see destination for any traveler visiting Argentina.

Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and provided a transfer to your hotel. Answer the call of vacations and take your time to relax at your hotel. If you’re eager to explore, you can visit the “Hito tres fronteras”, a viewpoint west of the town center that stands high above the turbulent reddish-brown junction of the Iguazú and Paraná rivers, which also form the Triple Frontera, or Triple Border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Or visit the Güirá Oga (the house of birds in native Guaraní language), the sanctuary for animals hurt by illegal hunting and trapping.

Say Hueque tips

For the most adventurous, we recommend to take a bike tour through the rainforest with an specialised guide. You will discover the flora and fauna, the sounds of the jungle, the trail of little native mammals and the traditions of the Guaranies.

Day 2 – Argentinian side of the falls

Today our driver will pick you up at your hotel to take you to the National Park, on the Argentinian side. You will arrange with him what time he will pick you up in the afternoon. We highly recommend to stay in the Park for at least 6 hours.

The falls are surrounded by a humid subtropical forest where the exuberant vegetation is home to many different animals and birds: ant birds, toucans, manakins, parrots, coatis, just to name a few of the most common birds. Lower and upper walkways weave in and around falls permitting up close and personal experiences with this magnificent spectacle of nature. The Argentine side of the falls is filled with a myriad of paths and walkways and stairways which allow you to have an experience from many different perspectives. You will have the chance to meet “The Devil’s throat”: the largest of the falls and for many the most spellbinding. To get to the “Devil’s throat” you take the ecological train and then walk out along boardwalks. After walking and taking pictures of animals and plants, you will have some free time to eat lunch in this amazing environment.

This exciting, 6-7 hour-long excursion is highly recommended in order to experience the true power of Iguazú falls.

Say Hueque tips

Where to eat lunch?

Inside the National Park, in the area called “Patio de servicios”, in every station of the ecological train and in the bar “Dos hermanas” (Two sisters). There are also two restaurants: “La selva” (The jungle) and “Fortin Cataratas” (Bunker Cataratas) which close around 3 pm. We recommend to grab a quick meal, take the time and find a peaceful spot to enjoy your first meal in the jungle.

Would you love to have a “Great Adventure”?

If you feel really adventurous, we recommend that you add on the “Gran Aventura” tour. Take an open air jeep through the rainforest and then a zodiac open air boat ride up the river to the base of the falls (there is a 100% chance that you will get soaking wet on this boat trip, the falls provide a refreshing “natural shower”. Be sure to take some extra clothes if you want to do this excursion, although each person will be provided with a dry bag once on the boat. There is also approximately a 150 mts. staircase down and then back up to get to/from the boat dock).

Day 3 – Iguazú falls tours: Brazilian side and Parque Das Aves

After breakfast, our driver will pick you up from the hotel to take you to the border with Brazil (Don´t forget your passport!). While big tour buses don’t make any stops other than the Park, you will be able to visit Parque Das Aves, an amazing bird park, with species from all over Brazil. Here you’ll be able to walk amongst flying toucans, see butterflies of all sizes and colors and discover birds you’ve never seen before.

From here you can walk to the Iguazú National Park on the Brazilian side, to enjoy the most amazing panoramic views. Our driver will pick you up at the time that you want! We highly recommend you stay at least 4 hours.

While Argentina has 80% of the falls on its side, Brazil has the best panoramic view. On the Argentinian side you will have the sensation of being right inside the falls, but only by visiting the Brazilian side you will fully appreciate the immensity of Iguazú falls. Take your time to enjoy it and feel it, to stroll the different walkways and feel the spray of water in your face. Take the boardwalk over the Salto Santa María, it feels like walking on the water. Get closer to the “Devil’s Throat” and feel the power of water! We are sure this is a day you will never forget.

If you don’t want to end this adventure, today you can choose to extend your travels adding on any optional activities, touring in Brazil, Patagonia or the Andes area or return back to Buenos Aires. The private transfer to the Puerto Iguazu (IGR) airport is included.

The night is young…keep on travelling!

Thanks for all your help!

Hello Say Hueque!

Tango Inn Club was friendly and comfortable and the staff went out of their way to help me after I lost my backpack. But their is a big problem with electricity failures in Iguazu, and Tango Inn does not have strong enough generator back up like the other hotels. So frequent blackouts during the night and no Aircon which was very uncomfortable in those tropical conditions.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi!

I have to congratulate your organisation. It was perfect, everything on time, nice friendly people. It was only one change, due to the stormy weather in BA on Saturday, so we have landed on Ezeiza instead at Aeroparco. Just one caĺl to your 24/7 number and everything was sattled. The driver was already coming to pick me up. Excellent!! (VALDI)

I have only one comment that I have tould also to the guide in Mendoza. I think his name is Sergio. The wine tour was pour. When tasting different wines you should get a piece of bread between one wine and another. In first winery we have got at least water, but in the second Vistandes we have had to taste red wine in the same glass as before white one, without any water to clean the glass and mouth. And they were rushing us as well.

The olive oil tour in Pasrai was very nice and very good. I am writing this just for you to know, because this was not only my opinion. (HUENTATA) In total I am really pleased that I have got recommandation to use your company and I will recommend it further to my friends if needed.

Regards, Nevenka
