IGUAZU & JESUIT RUINS – Tacuapi Lodge

Tour Iguazu Falls & Jesuit Ruins - 4 days

This trip gives you the unique opportunity to experience an exclusive eco-lodge in the jungle, visit the Unesco World Heritage ruins of San Ignacio Mini and admire the world known as Iguazú waterfalls, all in four days! Never will your time be better spent.

Day 1 – Your adventure in Argentina starts: from Posadas to Tacuapi eco-lodge. San Ignacio Mini Jesuit Ruins

Upon arrival in Posadas, and on the way to Tacuapi Lodge, you will make a stop at San Ignacio Mini Jesuit ruins.  Built in 1632 for the colonization of the natives, these ruins (or “misiones” in Spanish), have been declared a World Heritage Site by the Unesco for its historical importance. The San Ignacio Mini Jesuit ruins are one of the best preserved missions in Argentina. Abandoned by the Jesuits in 1767 when they were forced to leave the continent, today we can still appreciate its original organization: the main square surrounded by the church, the cemetery and other important buildings. Lost in dense vegetation, the remains were found in 1897, but weren’t restored until 1940. Still surrounded by dense vegetation, you can wander between redstone (called “red asperon”, the local stone) wall buildings in this mystic place. Bear witness to the passing of time.

From here you will continue to the beautiful Tacuapi eco-lodge, at the heart of the protected area called “Green Corridor” (an exuberant reserve of the unique “Paraense Rainforest”).

The property involves 50 Has of natural reserve to be discovered along tracks of different difficulties. Many viewpoints, rest areas, waterfalls and bridges allow visitors to walk deep inside the rainforest, observing and experiencing the splendid fauna and flora of the area.

Take it easy in the afternoon: you can relax in the hammock at the balcony of your wooden cottage surrounded by the jungle or enjoy any of the available activities. You can choose between guided treks, flora and fauna observation, or interpretative walks with waterfalls. You can finish any of your adventures just relaxing at the swimming pool.

Day 2 – From Tacuapi lodge to Puerto Iguazú: the gate to Iguazú falls

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to this jaw-dropping place and take a three hour ride to Puerto Iguazú across the province of Misiones. The waterfalls await!

The small border town of Puerto Iguazú is the gateway to visit the impressive Iguazú Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage site, making it a must-see destination for any traveler visiting Argentina. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel. Answer the call of vacations and take your time to relax at your hotel. If you’re eager to explore, you can visit the “Hito tres fronteras”, a viewpoint west of the town center or visit the Güirá Oga (the house of birds in native Guaraní language), the sanctuary for animals hurt by illegal hunting and trapping.

Day 3 – Iguazu falls tours: Argentine Side

Today our driver and bilingual guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the National Park, on the Argentinian side.

The falls are surrounded by a humid subtropical forest where the exuberant vegetation is home to many different animals and birds. Our guide will help you spot some of them: ant birds, toucans, manakins, parrots, coatis, just to name a few of the most common birds. Lower and upper walkways weave in and around falls permitting up close and personal experiences with this magnificent spectacle of nature. The Argentine side of the falls is filled with a myriad of paths and walkways and stairways which allow you to have an experience from many different perspectives. You will have the chance to meet “The Devil’s throat”: the largest of the falls and for many the most spellbinding. To get to the “Devil’s throat” you take the ecological train and then walk out along boardwalks. After walking and taking pictures of animals and plants, you will have some free time to eat lunch in this amazing environment.

This exciting, 6-7 hour-long excursion is highly recommended in order to experience the true power of Iguazú Falls.

Would you love to have a “Great Adventure”?

The “Great Adventure” (gran aventura) is an optional tour you can add on this day. Day 4 – Iguazu falls tours: Brazilian side

After breakfast, enjoy a 3-4  hour excursion to the Brazilian side of the Iguazú falls. Don´t forget your passport! While Argentina has 80% of the falls on its side, Brazil has the best panoramic view. On the Argentinian side you will have the sensation of being right inside the falls, but only by visiting the Brazilian side you will fully appreciate the immensity of Iguazú falls. Take your time to enjoy it and feel it, to stroll the different walkways and feel the spray of water in your face. Take the boardwalk over the Salto Santa María, it feels like walking on the water. Get closer to the “Devil’s Throat” and feel the power of water! We are sure this is a day you will never forget.

If you don’t want to end this adventure, today you can choose to extend your travel adding on any optional activities, touring in Brazil, Patagonia or the Andes area or return back to Buenos Aires. The shared transfer to the Puerto Iguazu (IGR) airport is included.

The night is young…keep on travelling!
