Capital of Argentina and described as the Paris of South America, Buenos Aires proudly embraces this title, as well as shows off plenty of its own culture! Explore the traditional European architecture, the cobbled streets lined with rustic outdoor cafes, the local antique and artisanal markets that offer plenty of bargain shopping, and the mouthwatering aroma of prized Argentine beef sizzling on an open “parrilla” (barbeque) in the air. Buenos Aires is home to some excellent local designers and you will certainly find the perfect leather jacket, long leather boots and handbags for all occasions. Though above all, Buenos Aires is known as the home of the tango. Be sure to enjoy a traditional dinner-tango show and explore the colorful San Telmo and Recoleta neighborhoods.

Upon arrival in Buenos Aires you will be met at the airport and have a transfer in private to your hotel.

Important Trip Information:

Please be aware, that while the natural beauty and surreal landscapes of this region are impressive, the 4X4 journey from San Pedro de Atacama to the Uyuni Salt Flats is not for the faint-hearted. Bolivia is home to rich cultural diversity as well as some of the highest mountain peak in the Andes, however, it is also one of the poorest countries in South America. As such, roads are often in need of repair, shared accommodation en route is extremely basic & occasionally lacking hot water, and the included meals are simple. Life is not easy for the locals and the elements are often extreme- temperatures of minus 20C at night are not uncommon, especially when considering the high altitude of the region… some mountain passes are over 5000 meters above sea level.

This trip is a true adventure through one of the most rugged sections of South America that will challenge even the most well-seasoned traveler. Please keep in mind that while the local services may be very basic, the natural beauty of these remote destinations will be unforgettable.

We had a great time. Thank you for organizing this trip!

Hi Patty,

We have now finished our trip and would like to provide you with some feedback.

Firstly the trip was fabulous and we had a great time. Most things went really well and we had no problems.

Extremely disappointed that the 4WD trip across from San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni in Bolivia was with a guide who only spoke Spanish. We understood that the trip had an English speaking guide. We received no information about anything relating to the area we crossed, except by some bits of translation from some French tourists who were also travelling with us. But as English is not their first language (and it wasn’t their job) we missed all the details relating to the salt flats and the lakes etc. on the way. Also, given the amount of money we spent on our tour, it would have been better for us to have been put on a tour where there was always hot/cold running water and heating. The refuge would have been fine, provided that other accommodation was not available, but having to stay with no heating and in a room of six people, where only four sleeping bags were provided, was not good.

Some of the information given to us was incorrect. Where the information provided for San Pedro that we would be collected from our hotel for the Moon Valley tour was not correct and as a result we missed the tour. We were supposed to go to the office of the tour company, but this information was not provided to us. Luckily they contacted us at the hotel and arranged for us to go on the tour the next day, but it jammed up against the other tour which was organized to the geysers.

The Machu Picchu trek was great, however given that the last day started at 3.30am and our train was not until 5.45pm, with 3.5 hours of train travel and then a .5 hour transfer to Cusco, it would have been much more preferable to have spent a night in Agues Calientes after the trek. This would have allowed us to enjoy A C without carrying around our backpacks. Also, arriving in Cusco at 10pm and having to leave at 5am the next morning was not a good idea.

The locations of most hotels was great and most of the hotels were very comfortable and very friendly. However the hotel in Arequipa was very cramped and it was very difficult because the staff did not have much English and weren’t very helpful.

The return journey from Isabella Island in the Galapagos should have been organized for the afternoon of the third day and then stay the night at Puerto Ayora, instead of having to get a 5am start and spend over 2 hours on a speedboat and then an hour driving across the island to get a flight. It would have given us more time to see Puerto Ayora as well.

In the Amazon we were scheduled to do a canopy tour of the jungle, however when we asked at our Eco Lodge about this they said that they didn’t offer this tour?? We did get to Lake Sandoval and we did do the night river tour to see cayman, however this was to be one of the highlights and we were exceptionally disappointed not to get this tour.

The rest was very good and we thank you for organizing this trip and hope you understand this feedback may help you with making the trip more enjoyable for others.

Kind Regards,

Jennifer and Glenn Revell

The variety that was offered on our tour suited us very well. The Salar de Uyuni at sunrise was truly a unique place.

Hi Patty,

We arrived back into Australia on Sunday after spending a couple of further weeks exploring some more of South America. Have put some feedback comments in below for you.

I found you through Google searching for tours that included Atacama Desert options. The Good online reviews from numerous other travelers convinced us to work with you. Also the variety that was offered on this tour suited as very well
The 4WD trip through Bolivia was amazing. It's like a different planet up there and was a real experience. The Salar de Uyuni at sunrise was fantastic on the 4WD tour. Truly a unique place.

We really enjoyed the hotel in Purmurmarca - Hotel El Manantial del Silencio. It had real character and drinking Argentinian red wine by the open fireplace was lovely.

All our guides were very good and were friendly and welcoming. Eddie, our 4WD driver did not speak English which made it a bit hard to converse with, but we were lucky enough to be travelling with an Austrian family who were able to relay information to us. The guides for the Tatio geysers and the Humahuaca day tour were very good at relaying everything in Spanish and English. Sorry - but I can't recall their names!

Just one suggestion: It would be worth noting to people that not all services run every day and this needs to be confirmed for the requested dates. This didn't put us out too much as we got to spend an extra day in the North of Argentina, but we may have shifted our internal flights around a bit have we known the bus didn't run on a daily basis.

Cheers, Mat

Guides gave lots of information, in Spanish and English and full of humor!

Dear Patty,

We just returned from a 3week South America trip. It was great and I will reply gladly to your questions.

We searched on internet and learned about Say Hueque. We decided to travel with you because the comments over the 6day trip Attacama-Uyuni were really good.

I would say our highlight were the good guides who gave lots of information. We only stayed in e one hotel, the Don Tomas hotel in San Pedro.

We had short excursions and one large: the three day 4wd to Uyuni. The El Tunio exursions was great. Early to get up but worth it. The 4wd tour was awesome with highlights and depths (the overnight stay in the refugee: ‘basic’ accommodation was an understatement). Although an experience, it took many hours to recover from it.

I forgot the name of the guide to the El Tunio geysers – he was awesome (I believe he is an San Pedro artist). He gave lots of information, in Spanish and English and full of humor!
