Upon arrival to San Juan Airport, we’ll drive you (bilingual assistance included) to your hotel in San Juan city, also known as Oasis city, since it stands amidst true arid landscapes. This is the capital of the province and the jumping-off point to visit the Ruta del Vino (Winery Route) around Valle del Tulum, the birthplace of the popular red wine, Syrah.
In the afternoon, we’ll pick you up at your hotel and a local guide will take you on a half-day visit through the highlights of the city. You can marvel at the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento (the founder of public education in Argentina) childhood home, the cathedral (one of the most modern in the country), the Juan Victoria Cultural Complex and Auditorium which has a specially designed Concert Room with outstanding acoustics.
After the historical visit, we’ll head to a bodega (winery) where we’ll have a guided visit to learn about the wine production methods of the region. We’ll keep traveling to see the Ullum Dam, the top tourist hub for aquatic sports and adventure activities. This is where people come to sunbathe and swim beside a forbidding rocky backdrop, to cope with the face-melting Summer weather.
The day will end with a visit to the olive fields to learn about the production of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and taste some regional products, followed by a visit to the beautiful Zonda Gorge, home to Eduardo Copello racing track, the most famous of South America. At the end of this rich and varied day, we’ll drive you back to your hotel.
